Begin with a stroll in Tiananmen Square, the world’s largest public square, past Chairman’s Mao’s Mausoleum to the treasure filled Forbidden City.The following day, on the Great Wall and visit the unique Temple of Heaven.
Indulge in a shopping spree at the bustling markets and then visit the exquisite Summer Palace. Later fly to Xian the former imperial capital for two nights.The next morning visit the Terracotta Warriors, built over 2000 years ago to accompany Emperor Qin Shihuang into the afterlife. We also visit the ancient City Wall, one of the few remaining in China and take a stroll through the lively Muslim Quarter to see the Islamic food markets and Great Mosque. Complete the day with a Tang Dynasty dancing show in the evening.
Visit the Little Wild Goose Pagoda and Shaanxi Museum, home to thousands of priceless cultural relics before flying to Hangzhou.
Visit the Temple of Inspired Seclusion and the Six Harmonies Pagoda. In the afternoon, enjoy a relaxing cruise on beautiful West Lake.
Travel by coach (approx three hours) to Mt Huang, one of China’s most stunning natural wonders.Take a cable car to the summit for fabulous views of strange rock formations and thousand year old trees wreathed in mists that have inspired countless artists and poets. Spend two nights at Mt Huang - one night at the summit and the other in the town of Tunxi at the foot of the mountain.
Fly to cosmopolitan Shanghai, China’s 'Paris of the East' for a two night stay and enjoy a welcoming dinner of sumptuous Shanghai cuisine. The next day, visit the delightful Yu Gardens, the Old Town, the Shanghai Museum and the famous Bund. In the evening, take a cruise along the panoramic Huangpu River.
Explore the Xintiandi area with its 1920’s style shikumen buildings before travelling over the Nanpu Bridge to see the Pudong area of Shanghai. Fly on to the beautiful city of Guilin for two nights stay. In the morning enjoy a wonderful cruise on the Li River and admire the limestone columns that tower above, creating magical landscapes.
Visit the stunning Reed Flute Caves and Mt Diecai before your flight back to the UK, arriving home the next day.
